Dear Editor:
Alamance County Meals on Wheels is extremely thankful to the community
for all its support. We can’t thank enough our volunteers,
our financial supporters, the churches who pray for us and support us,
the prize donors for the duck race, the YMCA for allowing us to use
their pool, MidCarolina Bank, McDonald’s (owned by John and Cathy
Kimmel), Boy Scout Troop 39, those who buy ducks in the race, the
Burlington Shag Club for the Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance, and
more. The list could go on for pages and pages. I just want to
express our gratitude for all the big and small things that everyone in
this community does to support the clients and business of Meals on
Wheels.
With a huge heart of thanks,
Anne Baker

Dear Karen:
Thanks to your magazine, and especially to Liz McConville, for
the wonderful article about my son-in-law and daughter, David and
Sara Hall, in your September issue. It was very well written,
and we will enjoy sharing it with the rest of our family and
friends. It is so good to see that the Halls are finally
being recognized for their combined talents and efforts. They are
both very dedicated to their “beading” and continue to
test and learn new techniques as they advance in their
jewelry-making skills.
I also commend you on the total magazine – your staff has done
a wonderful job on a very informative and helpful publication for
your area. As a resident of Cobb County, Ga. we enjoy a
similar local publication, and find it very interesting. Keep
up the good work!!

Dear Editor and the voters of the town of Elon:
After much thoughtful consideration, careful lengthy consultation with
family and friends, and input from experienced public servants, I find
I must withdraw from November’s race for the Town of Elon Board
of Aldermen. At this time, my energy and availability are very
important to the health and happiness of my family and me. The support
and confidence of my supporters is greatly appreciated, and I know they
understand my need to decline. For the confusion my withdrawal may
create on Election Day (The Board of Elections has told me that my name
is already on the ballot), I deeply apologize. I hope that the word
will spread so folks will know I am not running and they should choose
another candidate. Currently the choices are Mark Greene, Ron Klepcyk,
and Lawrence Slade. Thank you for considering me worthy enough to serve
you.
Sincerely, Julie A. Smith

Dear Editor:
I have just finished reading the August issue of Alamance magazine. It was so wonderful to read the article about Dr. Janak Choksi and the dedicated staff at the Alamance Cancer Center as they celebrate 25 years of fighting cancer.
It is so wonderful to read of the advances being made in the fight against cancer. I have been a
patient of Dr. Choksi since May, 1999, so I am excited when I read of
new procedures and techniques.
We are so thankful for Susan Walton, Dr. Larry Crawford, and Dr. Janak
Choksi for having the idea of establishing a cancer service for
Alamance County.
Thank you doctors and staff for your dedication and concern as we all fight this dreaded thing called cancer.

Dear Karen & Staff,
Thanks for your expertise in getting my great grandparents, Lovett and
Delphia Boykin, in the February edition of Alamance magazine. I felt very humble seeing this in print. I’ve received several compliments on this article. I would encourage other readers to reach way back and discover what
they can learn of their families. It is a very rewarding experience.
Sincerely,
Gordon B. Sumner

Dear Karen,
As I settled down to read the new Alamance magazine (usually from cover
to cover), I found myself with a big grin directing your readers to the
Women’s Resource Center’s Herb Festival. What an honor to be in your magazine and to be connected with the
Women’s Resource Center. Both your magazine and the Women’s
Center are such honors for Alamance County to be home to. The Women’s Resource Center has done so much good for the women
of Alamance County by providing so much worthwhile information and
great services.
Thank you,
Bertha (B) Holt

Dear Mrs. Carrouth,
I wanted to thank you for such a wonderful article you wrote about the
Special Olympics Dance, as well as throwing in some great pictures! I
really appreciate your highlighting a special part of their trip and
sharing it with the residents of Alamance County. It is so important to
make the public aware of all the many abilities and interests that
these athletes possess, on and off the court! Thanks again for a great
article!
All the best,
Amanda Powell, LRT/CTRS
