Our monthly magazine began as a weekly newspaper in the fall of 1976
under the leadership of Jim Lasley and Tom Bryant.
Some of the early writers included Vicky Vernon,
Bob Fahnrich, Bob Moren and Edith Mogle.

The first The City-County Newspaper premiered on Oct. 9, 1976,
with a profile on sheriff John Stockard and an
article on the three-level expansion of May Memorial.

Ten years later, the format was changed to a glossy color magazine.



More changes came in 2003 as we moved from our old location
of 27 years to our very own building at 217 E. Davis St.
It was only two doors away but offered twice as much space and lots of amenities.

And perhaps the most profound change has been the name...
Alamance Magazine. A local artist, Milton Hall,
illustrated the last City-County Magazine cover in August, 2003.



Changing from City-County Magazine has enabled
us to more accurately describe our publication.



Design improvements have brought the magazine to a new level and we have listened
to our readers who want more house features, garden tips, personality features, recipes and local event coverage.
